Terms of Service

Effective July 21, 2026

1. The agreement

These terms govern use of the Steightment service ("the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, the organization whose workspace you use. Questions: legal@steightment.com.

2. The Service

Steightment provides bookkeeping, reporting, invoicing, and grant-compliance software, including AI-assisted categorization and review queues. The Service assists your financial operations; it does not replace them.

Steightment is software, not a CPA firm, law firm, or fiduciary. AI suggestions, compliance flags, generated reports, and payment-request documents are tools for your review — you (and your accountant or advisor) remain responsible for the accuracy of your books, filings, and submissions to funders and agencies.

3. Your account and data

You are responsible for the accuracy of data you provide and for maintaining the security of your sign-in (we recommend enabling two-factor authentication — approver and owner accounts especially).

Your data remains yours. Workspace owners can export it at any time and can permanently delete the workspace. Our data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.

You must have the authority to connect third-party accounts (bank via Plaid, QuickBooks Online via Intuit) that you link to a workspace, and your use of those integrations is also subject to those providers’ terms.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to violate the law, to infringe others’ rights, to attempt to access other tenants’ data, or to probe or disrupt the Service’s security. We may suspend accounts that do.

5. Fees

Paid plans are billed as agreed in your order or engagement. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly agreed.

6. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Steightment does not warrant that AI-generated suggestions or compliance flags are complete or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Steightment’s total liability arising out of the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your workspace at any time — the product’s offboarding flow exports everything first. We may terminate for material breach of these terms with notice. Sections that by their nature survive (data rights, disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified to workspace owners by email before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The date below reflects the current version.
